Thursday, May 10th
12:01am: A Traffic Stop was performed on 220th Street, near Oakland Avenue resulting in Nathan Allen of Boone being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”
12:12am: An officer located an Open Door at 900 Hwy. 30 East. The officer secured the business.
9:22am: A caller advised of a parking issue in the 100 Block of East State Street. The officer did not locate the reported issue.
10:34am: A Traffic Stop was performed in the 1000 Block of South Elm Street, resulting in Devin Villalobos of Jefferson being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”
10:39am: Tim Cadden reported his dog had gotten loose in the 600 Block of South Cedar Street. Cadden was unable to catch the animal and requested assistance form the officer.
11:20am: An officer performed a Funeral Escort.
1:31pm: Dan Calvert advised of a Phone Scam Call he had received. The caller advised local police would arrest him if he did not immediately settle an outstanding bill. Calvert knew it was a scam and sis not incur a loss.
5:30pm: Pam Miller reported receiving the “IRS Phone Scam Call.” She did not incur a loss.
7:00pm: A Traffic Stop performed in the 1400 Block of North Elm Street resulted in Jasmin Jabbar of Des Moines being cited for, “Fail to Provide Proof of Security Liability.”
10:03pm: Tonya Varnell spoke with an officer about a possible Theft occurring in Jefferson. The officer is investigating.
10:28pm: An officer located an Open Door in the 500 Block of Greenewood Road.
Friday, May 11th
5:03am: An officer assisted EMS with a Medical Call n the 900 Block of West Harrison Street.
8:48am: The P.A.W.S. group advised of a subject keeping two dogs in a vehicle while they are working in Jefferson. The officer did not locate the reported vehicle, but is still investigating the claim.
10:13am: A caller advised of two dogs running freely in the area of Washington and Oak Streets. The officer is working to speak with the owner of the animals.
10:21am: Dalton Exline reported Criminal Mischief to his vehicle at 500 North Cedar Street. An unknown subject broke out the window on his 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The damage estimate is $300.00.
10:59am: Donald Pirie reported a male subject walking east in the 400 Block of East Lincoln Way Street, cursing loudly and appeared to be upset. Officers made contact with the subject, who advised he was fine and walking home.
2:06pm: An officer performed a Funeral Escort.
2:40pm: Officers were requested at the Greene County Middle School, located at 203 West Harrison Street, for two unruly students. The officers learned that the two students had been acting out all morning. They were eventually taken to the office and continued to misbehave. The students began throwing ice at staff members. Both students were picked up by parents. Both will be charged with, “Disorderly Conduct – Simple, and Assault – Simple” in Juvenile Court.
2:59pm: Tyler Hankel reported his juvenile daughter was being harassed on a phone app. called, “Afterschool.” The officer is investigating.
3:31pm: A Traffic Stop in the 200 Block of North Olive Street resulted in Harlie Osborne of Des Moines being cited for, “Driving While Suspended.”
4:16pm: Manuel Chavez spoke with an officer concerning a Civil Child Custody Issue occurring at 203 South Grimmell Road. He was advised to speak with an attorney.
4:17pm: Curtis Carstens reported his juvenile daughter did not come home from school and requested assistance in locating her. She was later found at a friend’s home.
4:18pm: Tonya Varnell spoke with an officer about a school teacher allegedly pushing her juvenile daughter at 203 West Harrison Street.4:20pm: Larry Saddoris spoke with an officer about a neighbor using the private parking lot at the Camden Apartments, located at 102 South Grimmell Road.
8:22pm: Dakota Bishop reported subjects driving past his residence at 300 East Washington Street and yelling at him. The officer spoke with the subjects in the vehicle and advised them to end this behavior.
8:54pm: A Traffic Stop in the 1300 Block of North Mulberry Street resulted in Keaton Marquardt of Iowa City being cited for, “Operation without Registration.”
9:47pm: Steve Brandt reported his neighbor was burning brush after the given time period according to ordinances. The officer spoke with the subjects, who removed the brush to control a small contained recreational fire.
9:49pm: An officer removed debris from the roadway on the north side of the overpass on North Elm Street.
10:26pm: An officer stopped a vehicle with a headlight out in the 300 Block of West Clark Street. The driver, Joseph Aaron Pritchard 26 of Fort Dodge was arrested for, “Driving While Barred – Aggravated and Insufficient Number of Headlamps – Simple.”
Saturday, May 12th
12:25am: A Traffic Stop was performed on 220th Street, near Elm Street. The officer’s investigation led to Travis Christopher Fincel, 43 of Grand Junction being cited for, “Driving While Suspended, Fail to Provide Proof of Security Liability, Improper Registration Plate Lamp, Operation without Registration.” The officer towed the vehicle from the scene and during an Inventory of the vehicle, the officer located suspected narcotic related items. Future charges are pending lab results on the seized items.
5:14am: The Sheriff’s office requested assistance from an officer in locating two vehicles heading toward Jefferson from the Scranton area. The officer did not locate the vehicles.
7:44am: Kim Jacobson reported her dog got away from her and was now running free in the 400 Block of East Lincoln Way Street. The officer assisted her in catching the animal.
8:56am: A Traffic Stop in the 100 Block of North Elm Street resulted in Kane Borgeson of Rippey being cited for, “Dark Windows.”
11:49am: The Uptown Cafe reported receiving a Scam Phone Call. A subject advised he worked for Alliant Energy and was going to shut off the business’s power for an unpaid bill unless he was immediately paid. The business knew this to be a scam and ended the call.
12:23pm:, The Super 8 Motel reported falling victim to the “Alliant Energy Phone Scam.” The business suffered a loss of $998.00. The caller convinces business owners they have an outstanding power bill and the service will be cut off immediately if payment is not made.
506pm: Eugene Stanek brought a dog to the LEC he had found running in the county. The officer placed the animal in the Animal Holding Facility.
5:18pm: Rob Knoll turned in an Iowa ID Card he located in Russell Park. The officer returned the ID to the owner.
6:44pm: A Traffic Stop in the 300 Block of South Grimmell Road resulted in Jack Hein of Des Moines being cited for, “Driving While Suspended.”
8:01pm: Wilmar Agular-Flores spoke with an officer concerning a Civil Child Custody Issue.
Sunday, May 13th
12:24am: A Traffic Stop was performed on 220th Street, near North Elm Street resulting in Shane Spaulding of Carroll being cited for, “Operation without Registration.”
12:53am: Julie Byerly reported a male in the garage at 308 East Washington Street began cursing at her as she delivered his newspaper to him.
1:39am: An officer assisted EMS with a Medical Call in the 400 Block of North Chestnut Street.
4:08pm: Deb Beddow reported a loud vehicle revving its engine somewhere on South Elm Street, just north of Russell Street.
7:09pm: A caller advised of a Careless Driver eastbound on 220th Street, approaching Jefferson. The officer did not locate the reported vehicle.
10:11pm: Rose Lehrkamp reported an unwanted male subject pounding on her door at 406
South Locust Street. The officer arrived and diffused the situation. The male was given his property and left the residence.
