There was little doubt about Greene County senior Rachael Danielson’s place in Ram golf history prior to Monday’s Class 2A Regional final tournament. After she finished as the runner-up medalist with an 83 for 18 holes at the Willow Vale Golf Course at Mapleton, Danielson had earned a third straight State tournament trip, unprecedented in the more than 55 years of Jefferson-based high school girls’ golf.
Greene County Coach Heath Telleen said Danielson played great golf, finishing second only to the 2017 State medalist Annika Patton of Alta-Aurelia, who shot 73. “Rachael played her best golf of the season. She had a great round, showing great confidence and maturity. Entering State she should have a great deal of confidence.”
Danielson will be playing in the 2A State Tournament May 29-30 close to home at the Lake Panorama National Course. She played the previous two seasons in 3A, where she placed sixth last year and eighteenth in 2016.
