whiterock conservancyAs the temperatures begin to rise, so do the activities at Whiterock Conservancy in Coon Rapids. Those activities continue with the annual fishing derby on Memorial Day from 3-5:30pm.

The derby will be held at the Garst Farm community fishing hole on the conservancy’s grounds. Participants are encouraged to bring their own poles and bait as there will be limited supplies available. Prizes will be awarded in different age groups. Experts will also be on hand to guide those who have minimal experience. Those over the age of 16 also need a fishing license to participate.

The day before, the conservancy will also host a Slow Sunday Drive. These regularly occurring drives give visitors the chance to explore 13 miles of trees and trails through the conservancy with an ATV or UTV. Cost is $25 per vehicle, which can be paid the day of. All proceeds go to maintaining the trails. Contact the conservancy for more information on these events.
