Greene County scored a season high four runs, but the Rams dropped a non-conference high school baseball game in Jefferson at Allensworth Field on Thursday night to the Winterset Huskies. The 11-4 victory improved Winterset’s record to 4-2, while Greene County fell to 1-3 with three straight losses.

The Rams led 1-0 on a Wade Adcock SAC fly, but Winterset took the lead with five runs in the second inning off Ram starting pitcher Nick Breon. The inning began with two outs and no one on base before the Huskies collected seven consecutive hits. The lead was 6-1 before the Rams scored three runs in the fifth inning to close the gap to 6-4, but Winterset scored the final three runs of the game.

Jordan Patterson had a double and two singles as the Rams collected nine hits. He also drove in a run. Adcock had a single and two RBI on the night, while Ben Wilkins and Tyler Teeples each doubled. Austin Delp had a single and one run batted in, and Breon and Brent Riley added base hits.

Easton Darling had three hits from the lead off position for Winterset and Casey Young added two hits, including a seventh inning solo home run, his second round tripper of the season.

Gavin Milledge was the winning pitcher. Breon took the loss with relief help from Bryce Hoyle and Adcock.

The Rams are back in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference action tonight at Nevada. Greene County is 0-2 in league play and the Rams are scheduled to send junior Austin Delp to the pitching mound.
