The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Wednesday.
The Council approved the second reading on sewer rate increases. The increase is gradual over a five year period, with the first two years only being an increase of $1 for most residents. There were no objections to the ordinance, though the Council will still conduct a third reading at their next meeting.
The meeting began with a presentation from Guthrie Center Area Development Corporation President Dennis Flanery. Flanery outlined the corporation’s plan of using City funds for economic development projects. Included in those projects was a program aimed at assisting property owners with improvements to facades, doors, and windows.
The Council also accepted the fiscal year 2016-2017 audit as presented, and the bid for the 2017-2018 audit from current auditors Cornwell, Friederes, Maher & Associates, P.L.C., for $6,300. The meeting concluded with a presentation on workers compensation for the 2018-2019 fiscal year.
