With another summer season comes another opportunity to help those in need with housing improvements. The Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity will be starting their first of three summer projects this weekend in Guthrie Center. The project will be the first siding project the organization has done in the community for the Helping Hands program. Construction will take about a month to complete, as crews work primarily on Saturdays.
The next project will be the first ever one located in Bagley. Associate Director Jeff Lamoureux talks about the work they will be doing there. “We’re helping out a homeowner there with painting of that house. We’re going to scrape and paint. The homeowner has actually started a little bit on the backside of the home. So we’re going to come in and help her finish that project for a couple weeks.”
The final project scheduled at this time will be a roof replacement in Panora. The organization is still taking applications for smaller projects. To hear more about the 2018 projects, listen to today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
