Friday, June 1st
12:15am: Jill Stream reported a disturbance occurring in a vehicle in the 100 Block of Ram Drive. The officer made contact with a father and his son, who had been involved in an argument.
7:32am: Durbin Automotive reported someone had attempted to steal a customer’s vehicle while parked at 206 West Head Street. Someone had attempted to start the vehicle by breaking into the steering column on a 1998 GMC Sierra C1500. Other vehicles parked at the facility had been entered, but no damage occurred to them. The officer is investigating.
9:23am: Officers began an investigation into spray painting done under the north end of the overpass on North Elm Street. There was a large amount of graffiti located by officers. The investigation continues.
10:19am: An officer investigated a Backing Accident at 508 North Elm Street. Two vehicles were parked facing the building beside each other. As a 2012 Hyundai Accent, owned and operated by Bob Saffell of Jefferson backed into the vehicle beside him as he backed from his parking spot. Safell struck a 2016 Kia Sedona, owned by Toni Wetrich of Jefferson. Both vehicles had a reported $500.00 in damages. No citation was issued, due to the accident occurring on private property.
11:05am: Stephanie Hall reported waking up and finding her cell phone had been in a 59- minute call with an unknown male. She did not believe she had answered her phone while asleep and wanted this documented by the officer.
11:26am: Residents and management at Walton Woods requested an officer contact a Jefferson female and advise her she is no longer welcome on the property at 1000 West Adams Street.
12:32pm: AAI requested extra weekend patrol at 200 American Drive after terminating an employee they felt may retaliate.
1:41pm: Tasha Herdnan reported a careless Driver on Hwy. 4, northbound into Jefferson. The officer stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver about the complaint.
2:30pm: The sheriff requested an officer to speak with a Jefferson female who was using his name in a fundraising event. The subject was promising that the sheriff would wear a dog costume on the square if she could reach her goal of raising $450.00. The sheriff had not been asked to participate, not did he wish too. The subject was advised to stop using his name in her fundraising efforts.
3:44pm: Tony Ratliff requested officers at 305 West South Street for a Domestic Situation occurring between his sister and her boyfriend. The officers arrived and spoke to the couple. Officers learned a verbal argument had occurred between the couple and the male was leaving for work.
8:44pm: A Traffic Stop in the 100 Block of West Lincoln Way Street resulted in Jeffrey Stream of Jefferson being cited for, “Operation without Registration.”
9:14pm: An officer assisted EMS with a Medical call in the 1000 Block of North West Street.
9:48pm: A Traffic Stop performed in the 100 Block of East Lincoln Way Street resulted in David Schrunk of Jefferson being cited for, “Fail to Wear Safety Belt.”
9:51pm: Officers assisted a motorist with mechanical troubles in the 200 Block of West Lincoln Way Street.
10:41pm: Jeri Gettler reported seeing a male juvenile walking behind the High School at 101 Ram Drive. The officer did not locate anyone in the area.
10:43pm: Nellie Gustin requested assistance at 309 North Maple Street with a civil issue.
11:25pm: Working off of an anonymous tip, officers went to 777 Wild Rose Lane and arrested Christina Lynn Owens, 32 of Nevada, on an Outstanding Dallas County Arrest Warrant for Theft.
Saturday, June 2nd
12:21am: An officer issued a Parking Violation Notice in the 300 Block of West South Street for, “48 Hour parking.”
12:34am: An officer located an Open Door in the 500 Block of Greenewood Road.
12:57am: A Traffic Stop in the 200 Block of West Clark Street resulted in Mackenzie Parkis of Jefferson being cited for, “Open Container – Passenger.”
2:28am: An officer performed a traffic Stop in the 300 Block of North Chestnut Street, resulting in two arrests. Jessica Ann Marie Kelton, 19 of Jefferson was arrested for, “Driving While Suspended and Possession of Alcohol Under Legal Age. Also arrested was, Monica Emily Smith, 18 of Jefferson for, Possession of Alcohol Under Legal Age.”
4:40am: Jesse Diehl advised of an audible alarm sounding at 300 North Elm Street. The officer found the business to be secure and contacted a key holder for the business.
4:44am: Jennifer Braga reported a large tree branch in the roadway in the 700 Block of West Harrison Street. The officer contacted city workers to remove the large branch.
8:32am: An officer located a large tree branch in the roadway in the 900 Block of North Maple Street. City crews removed the branch from the roadway.
9:13am: Dick Finch advised of a light out on the Stop Lights at Elm and Russell Streets. The officer forwarded the info to city workers to replace the bulb.
10:32am: Officers assisted a motorist with mechanical problems on 220th Street, near the Casino entrance.
2:16pm: Kay Richardson advised of a neighbor burning garbage in the area of Park and Wilson. The officer made contact with a subject, who was burning yard waste and no garbage.
6:17pm: An officer covered a Door Ding at 106 West Washington Street. A 2014 Nissan Altima, owned by Layla Rysavy of Jefferson was door dinged by a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, owned and operated by Donald Hobbs of Lohrville. The Rysavy vehicle had $500.00 in damages to the door.
8:42pm: Mackenzie Parkis advised of a car driving at a high rate of speed in the 600 Block of North Locust Street. The officer spoke to a young driver in the area about her driving habits.
10:22pm: Jennifer Schiltz reported a male going from camper to camper at the Greene County fairgrounds asking for money. The officer made contact with the male and advised hm he was no longer welcome there and to go on his way.
11:22pm: Officers assisted EMS with a Medical Call in the 300 Block of East Vest Street.
Sunday, June 3rd
12:01am: An officer located an Unsecured Door in the 500 Block of Greenewood Road.
1:30am: A Traffic Stop at 220th and Oakland resulted in Kathy Steussy of Jefferson being cited for, “Fail to Provide Proof of Financial Liability.”
1:51am: A caller advised of loud music in the area of the 100 Block of West Vest Street. The officer spoke to a resident in the area regarding the complaint.
2:22am: A Traffic Stop in the 100 Block of West Vest Street resulted in Kera Shriver of Auburn being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”
11:28am: Kashia Tuel reported the Theft of a bicycle from 508 North Cedar Street.
12:31pm: Vickie Williams reported a deputy gave her dog a treat at 702 Mahlon Street. She was advised to contact the sheriff.
1:08pm: An officer was requested in the 600 Block of South Locust Street for a parking issue between neighbors in the area. No vehicles parked on the street were violating city ordinances.
3:50pm: A Traffic Stop in the 500 Block of North Elm Street resulted in Shawon Zmolek of Persia being cited for, “Operation without Registration.”
7:43pm: A Traffic Stop in the 100 Block of East McKinley Street resulted in Garret McDowell of Jefferson being cited for, “Use of Electronic Communication Device While Driving.”
8:49pm: Dollar General reported catching a male stealing ladies underwear at 104 North Locust Street. The business was not interested in criminal charges, but wanted the male served with a Ban & Bar Statement form the business. The officer served the form on the male subject.
9:16pm: An officer issued a Parking Violation Notice in the 600 Block of North Olive Street for, “Parked Facing Wrong Direction.”
9:23pm: An officer issued a Parking Violation Notice in the 400 Block of East McKinley Street for, “Parked Across Sidewalk.”
10:30pm: A Traffic Stop was performed with a vehicle at Elm and Vest Streets. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Ryan Michael Vaughn, 27 of Fort Dodge for, “OWI 1st Offense – Serious, Possession of Controlled Substance – marijuana 1st Offense – Serious, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Simple, Use of Electronic Communication Device While Driving – Simple, Open Container/Driver – Simple, and Improper Registration Plate lamp – Simple.”
