A non-conference softball slugfest featured 32 hits, 30 runs, 12 errors, and 15 runners left on base, in Jefferson on Thursday night. Class 1A Glidden-Ralston scored seven runs in the sixth inning, propelling the Wildcats to a 16-14 win over Greene County. G-R improved to 6-4 with the victory, while the Rams dropped to 2-7.

The Rams led 10-5 after five innings before G-R put seven on the board in the sixth to take a lead they would not give up. Both teams scored four runs in the seventh inning. Defensive lapses were an issue as well with the Rams being charged with a season worst eight errors. G-R was charged with four errors.

The Wildcats out hit the Rams 17-15 and the visiting team had six extra base hits including three doubles, two triples, and an Amy Eighmy home run. Greene County fans saw freshman Danielle Hoyle collect her first varsity homer and she finished with four runs batted in, the same as Eighmy. Samantha Hardaway had three hits for the Rams, with two each from Megan Carey, Carmyn Paup, Jenna Beyers, and Faith Davis, and Laurin Lyons.

Greene County is on the road in Monroe tonight to take on Heart of Iowa Activities Conference rival PCM.
