A Jefferson man pled guilty to two misdemeanors and will serve jail time.
According to court documents, 35-year-old Bradley Allen Conklin pled guilty to an aggravated misdemeanor for driving while barred and a serious misdemeanor for possession of marijuana. He had all but two days of his 30-day jail sentence suspended for the serious misdemeanor and will serve ten-days in the county jail for the aggravated misdemeanor. Both sentences will run concurrently. Conklin will then be placed on informal probation with the Greene County Sheriff’s office for one year.
The sentence stems from an incident on January 24th. An officer arrived at Conklin’s house, after receiving a call about possible drug activity in his house with a child present. The child answered the door, but Conklin wasn’t home. After Conklin drove his car back home, both he and the officer knew about Conklin having a revoked driver’s license. Conklin then gave consent to the officer to search his home for drugs. Drug-related items were removed and tested positive for marijuana.
Conklin was originally charged with a felony for his third or subsequent offense for possession of a controlled substance, an aggravated misdemeanor for driving while barred and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. Conklin was also ordered to pay court costs not to exceed $1,000, as well as $135 in surcharges.
