Greene County won’t have to get the map out to find where they open Class 3A Region 3 softball postseason play. The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union has assigned the Rams to Roland to face top 10 ranked Roland-Story in round one on Tuesday, July 3 at 7 p.m. Coach Tom Kennedy’s team plays R-S in Roland tomorrow night in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play. The Norsemen, ranked ninth in the latest IGHSAU poll, were 5-3 winners in Jefferson earlier this season.
The winner between the Rams and Norsemen plays either Southeast Valley (Cowrie) or Saydel (Des Moines) at Roland on July 6 in a semifinal round game. The other four teams in Region 3 are North Polk (Alleman), Gilbert, OABCIG (Ida Grove) and Kuemper Catholic (Carroll). The Region 3 title game is set for July 9 at a site to be determined.
The Rams are 4-13 on the season and were rained out last night in Jefferson vs. Nevada. Greene County is scheduled to face Manson-Northwest Webster tonight in Manson.
