acgcACGC freshman Kylie Young nearly batted her way to a Charger record as she led the squad back from a 6-0 deficit to defeat the West Central Valley Wildcats last night, 9-8.

After giving up those six runs in the first two innings, ACGC stormed back to score nine unanswered in the top of the 3rd and 4th. After grounding out in her first at bat, Young went 3-3 with a double, two singles, and five RBIs. The RBI tally ties Emily Pavelka for most RBIs in a single game in ACGC history. Junior Sierra O’Brien also tallied three hits, while classmate Savana Fuller and freshman Jorja Hoover collected two hits each.

West Central Valley’s tag team of Taylor and Abby Beane couldn’t contain the Charger hitters, giving up a total of thirteen hits and walking five ACGC batters. WCV seniors Kennedy Lose and Taylor Beane led the Wildcats with a combined four doubles and two runs scored. West Central Valley falls to 0-4 against ACGC all-time and drops to 4-14 overall.

The Chargers improve to 8-9 (4-6). They were set to host Van Meter tonight, but for the second time this season, that match-up has been called due to weather. A make-up date is to be determined. They also learned their playoff destination. For the third time this season, the Chargers will tangle with their rivals to the east in the Panorama Panthers. The Class 2A Region 3 Quarterfinal is set for Tuesday, July 3rd at 7pm in Panora.
