The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.
Much of the meeting was devoted to discussion of the upcoming remodel of the parking lots for the Auditor’s building and Department of Motor Vehicles facility. The County had tasked the engineering firm AECOM with designing the new lots, and Transportation Engineer Todd Allyn presented the preliminary plan and specifications. The Board liked what they saw and will continue moving forward with the project, though nothing was approved at the meeting. The County will likely open the project for bids by July 31st, with construction to begin in August.
The Board also received a presentation from representatives of the cities of West Des Moines, Waukee, and Van Meter about a proposed regional water facility that would require the County to sell portions of waterways. The Supervisors said they will take the idea under consideration. There were also action items on the agenda that were approved, including: a scanning contract with Cott Systems for Auditor’s Office documents; the appointment of Kevin Timm to the Fox Creek Benefited Water District Board; and reappointing Robert Alexander Carfrae to the Veterans Affairs Commission.
The meeting concluded with a workshop to discuss the space needs for various County offices and departments, followed by a community collaboration workshop.
