A scheduled Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball doubleheader for the Greene County Rams doesn’t happen often, but that’s the case tonight when Roland-Story visits Allensworth Field in Jefferson. The Norsemen requested playing two in one day, and the Rams agreed.

R-S is 11-6 overall and 5-2 in the HOIAC, good for a second place tie with Saydel (Des Moines), trailing only 6-1 North Polk (Alleman). Coach John Hupp’s Rams are 6-7 overall and 3-4 in league play.

Both teams average 4.7 runs per game and neither hits with a lot of power. The Norsemen have two homers in 17 games while the Rams have one round-tripper in 13 contests. R-S has no triples and 21 doubles while the Rams have two triples and 23 two-base hits. The R-S team batting average is .251 while the Greene County team BA is .309.

Earned run average is where there is a difference on paper. The Rams have a team earned run average of 3.41 while the nine R-S pitchers have a combined ERA of 2.64.

Game two will be broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
