ADM Public Meeting 1

The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District hosted an event Wednesday evening where they encouraged the public to weigh-in on their growing enrollment and decreasing space.

The District has been working with consulting firm RSP and Associates to discuss building expansions and space needs assessments, while also getting help from a committee they created to head the facility master planning. At last night’s meeting, RSP representatives took attendees through what they’ve been working on thus far with the committee, which included forecasting the growth of the District. Total student enrollment for this year was 1,805, but by 2022 it’s expected to balloon to more than 2,300. To meet the needs of so many more students, RSP and the planning committee are identifying solutions.

The process began in April, and RSP believes they will have a concrete plan to recommend to the School Board by this January. The public information meeting was one part of the process, and there will be a second meeting in a few months. Attendees were first given a presentation on the findings so far, and then were asked to contribute their suggestions. Following the breakout session, everyone was brought back together to discuss the public’s feedback.
