The Stuart Public Library will welcome their second literary entertainer of the month for their “Library Rocks” summer reading program on Friday, June 29th from 10-11am. The featured performer is Cedar Rapids storyteller, Darrin Crow. Crow will be sharing three folk tales from Europe and the United States for all ages.
Crow describes how he got into storytelling. “I’ve always loved books and reading and I love listening to people talk and tell stories. But I worked for a long time in living history. I worked for a living history museum in Cedar Rapids from the time I was about 16 years old. That’s where I really learned that showing people old stuff is only one part of things. It’s giving them the stories behind their history and heritage.”
Crow’s three stories all include mountain or rocky settings, to fit the “Library Rocks” theme. To hear more from Crow on storytelling, listen to him on today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
