JPRD Board 6_20The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Board met Wednesday in regular session.

The Board heard a request from Genesis Development Program Coordinator Jenny Paulsen about reducing membership rates to the Greene County Community Center for 21 of their clients. The committee decided to allow three “family” rates for the three residential Genesis houses and have each house pay for a family membership.

JPRD Director Vicky Lautner then announced that Emily VanderWilt was hired as the new Assistant Parks and Rec Director. She will start on August 6th, due to finishing some internships for her college courses. The Board then discussed fee comparisons with similar sized communities for the assistant director’s position.

Finally, the Board discussed a request for lifeguards to receive free memberships to the City swimming pool. Lautner noted that the City has never provided free memberships to the lifeguards in her tenure. It was also noted that the request came from an individual who is also on the local swim team, where it is required to have a paid pool membership. The Board decided to defer the issue to the swim team board.
