For the second time this season Greene County was shut out by North Polk in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference softball. Last week it was 4-0 in Jefferson. Last night it was 10-0 in six innings by the 10 run rule in Alleman. Coach Tom Kennedy’s team lost for the fourth straight time and fell to 4-15 overall and 4-6 in the league.

The Comets homered twice, doubled three times, and added five singles as they out hit the Rams ten to four. Samantha Hardaway pitched the first four innings, allowing seven hits and one walk. The Comets scored five times off Hardaway with four earned runs, and she struck one batter out. Jenna Beyers threw the final 1-2/3 innings, giving up five runs, all earned. Beyers walked four batters and the Comets hit safely three times off her.

The Rams had four hits, all singles. Hardaway had two singles with one each by Megan Carey and Lily Muir.

Greene County goes to the South Hamilton tournament today, which is held in both Stanhope and Jewell.
