Two of the best high school softball teams in Class 4A will battle one another in Adel tonight. The No. 4 Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers play host to No. 5 Winterset Huskies in the final contest of their two-game conference season series. The teams have split their previous two meetings this season; Winterset topped ADM, 12-4, in the championship game of their softball tournament on May 26, while ADM won the first conference meet, 5-2, on June 4. ADM enters tonight’s contest with a 26-4 record in their first 30 games while Winterset’s posted a mark of 21-9. ADM head softball coach Rick Dillinger is anticipating a good contest between the squads tonight. “(Sophie) Stover’s a great pitcher with good movement,” Dillinger said, “They catch well, they hit well, and they’re coaches well. We are going to have to play very well.”
Weather permitting, the ADM Tigers welcome the Winterset Huskies to Adel tonight for a top-five Raccoon River Conference showdown. Live play by play coverage can be heard on the Raccoon Valley Radio Network’s True Country K 107.9, starting with the Veteran Power Sports and Equipment Pregame Show at 7 p.m.
