The Perry community has been without an official community theater for a few years, but this July will see a comeback in the form of “The Trial of Goldilocks.”
Marilee Bales with the Perry Community Theater is directing the play, which will be performed in the courtroom of the Carnegie Library Museum. Bales felt performing a play about a trial in an actual courtroom was appropriate. The cast includes actors ranging from young kids to older adults, and the run-time is around 30 minutes.
Karice Warden, who plays Goldilocks, says the brisk pace and clever scenario will make for a fun theater experience for all ages. “It’s a kid-friendly, enjoyable way for you to spend time with your family. But it’s not an incredibly long play, so if you just have a free evening that you don’t know what to do, bring your kids and come have fun with us!”
Brandon King, who plays the Attorney for the Three Bears, hopes the play will be a good springboard to launch an interest in theater in the City. “This is the first show in an attempt to revive the Perry Community Theater. I think you could get a lot of people interested in coming down and trying out for the next one, whatever that’s going to be. I think just seeing people that you live with and work with every day doing it and having fun doing it, I think that’d be a big draw.”
“The Trial of Goldilocks” will be performed on July 27th and 28th, with shows at 7 and 8:30 p.m. Admission will be $5 per person, and tickets go on sale starting July 5th.
