
A heat advisory is now in effect for all of the Raccoon River Valley area.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Greene, Dallas and Guthrie counties from 11am to 9pm today. Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 90s today, with heat indexes reaching between 100 to 105-degrees. The National Weather Service recommends limiting outdoor activities and frequently checking on the elderly and young children as they are more susceptible to heat-related illnesses.
The National Weather Service has also placed Greene, Dallas and Guthrie counties in a slight risk for severe weather for Saturday afternoon through Saturday evening. Rainfall totals for the weekend could be between 1.5 to 3-inches. Some amounts could be higher locally. Flooding could also be a possibility with the threat of excessive rainfall over the weekend.
