fireworksThe 4th of July is considered as the most popular time to light off fireworks. Last year the State of Iowa made it easier to do that when they passed legislation allowing the sale and usage of the products during two times of the year. However, some communities in Guthrie County still outlaw their use in city limits.

Last year the Stuart City Council voted to concur with the State ordinance. Stuart residents can sell, purchase, and set off fireworks now until July 8th. Fireworks can be set off in Stuart between 9am and 10pm. However, residents in Panora and Guthrie Center are still not allowed to set them off unless they obtain a permit from the County Board of Supervisors. Those caught setting off fireworks illegally in Panora or Guthrie Center City limits can be issued citations or fines.
