Discover Space

The Perry Public Library’s “Discover Space” Teen Summer Reading Program participants have made it all the way through the original and prequel trilogies, and in the month of July they will complete their viewings of every “Star Wars” film with the three most recent entries.

The viewings began on May the 4th, commonly known as Star Wars Day, with the original film “Episode IV: A New Hope.” The next film on the viewing list is “Episode VII: The Force Awakens,” which will be shown this Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the library’s large meeting room. The series will continue on July 13th with “Episode VIII: The Last Jedi,” and will wrap up on July 20th with “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” Each film is rated PG-13, and they have run times of 135, 152, and 133 minutes, respectively.

Deputy Library Director Misty VonBehren says she had never seen a “Star Wars” movie prior to showing them in her teen summer reading program, but she’s become a fan as a result, and knows she’s not alone. She encourages all area teens to join them for free movies, snacks, and camaraderie. For more information, stop in or call the library at 515-465-3569.
