Greene County Community CenterAs we hit the midway point of July, there are several more youth activities coming up with the Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department.

Blastball League will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from July 16th through August 1st from 5:30 to 6pm at the City Softball Field. It is for four to five-year-olds to learn how to play baseball and softball focusing on the fundamentals of the sport. No gloves are needed for the course. Samantha Hardaway and Regan Lamoureux will lead the program and the cost to participate is $20.

Two programs will take place on Monday, July 16th at the Greene County Community Center. The Very Hungry Caterpillar will be from 10 to 11:30am with caterpillar-themed activities. It is for three to six-year-olds and Rosemary Hoyt will be the instructor. Cost to participate is $10. Art on the Fly will be led by Jolene Peters. She will teach those in first grade and older how to use layering techniques, while also using masking and stencils to design a large peace sign on a 12-inch-by-12-inch canvass. There is a $20 fee and it will take place from 1 to 2:30pm.

Finally, on Tuesday through Friday will be a Pre-Sous Chef program with Hy-Vee. Participants will learn how to make healthy snacks. The six to eight-year-old class is from 1 to 2pm and the 9 to 12-year-old class is from 2 to 3pm at the community center. Cost to participate is $20.
