A nickname you could’ve given the West Central Valley baseball team this summer is the bandits of the base paths. The 2018 campaign ended Monday night in Carroll for the Wildcats, falling 10-3 to the Kuemper Knights of Carroll. A strength of the Wildcats all season was their overall speed, which they used to steal 72 total bases in 74 attempts. Five players ended the season with perfect stolen base mark and also swiped five or more bases during the summer. Junior Cole Arnburg held a wide margin over the rest of his teammates, stealing 23 bases in as many attempts. Senior Billy Larsen swiped eight bases, senior Riley Algreen and freshman Drew Taylor had seven each and sophomore Ismael Leyva stole five bags. The West Central Valley baseball team ended their season with a 12-15 overall record, and graduated Larsen and Algreen from the program.
