The phrase ‘don’t judge a book by it’s cover’ is one the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers softball team is saying as they resume their quest for a Class 4A State Championship today. The Tigers hold the No. 1 seed in the bracket with a record of 33 wins and seven losses, taking on the No. 8 seeded Fillies who bring a below .500 record with them to Fort Dodge at 18 wins and 22 losses. ADM head softball coach Rick Dillinger says Dallas Center-Grimes always seems to play their best ball at the end of the season. “I don’t think you want to go by their record because, if you’ve looked at their season right now, they’ve won a bunch of games in a row,” Dillinger said, “They’ve beaten some quality opponents in the tournament here. We’re going to have to play well, but I think you always have to play well (to be successful) up at the state tournament.”
Since defeating DCG 11-5 in Adel on June 7, the Fillies posted a 15-15 overall record. They’ve won their previous eight games and 10 of their last 11 contests. Among the opponents DCG has defeated during their current winning streak include sweeping the Little Hawkeye Conference series with the No. 14 Norwalk Warriors on July 2, and topping No. 1 Carlisle, 7-6, in the regional semifinal game on July 5. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network will have live play by play coverage of the Class 4A State Quarterfinal game between ADM and Dallas Center-Grimes on True Country K 107.9, raccoonvalleyradio.com, and the KKRF mobile app. Pregame comments start at 12:30 p.m. and first pitch is around 1 p.m. from the Roger Sports Complex in Fort Dodge.
