New Perry City Council

The Perry City Council convened Monday evening in regular session.

During reports, City Administrator Sven Peterson said the City was recently redesignated as an Iowa Great Place by the Department of Cultural Affairs. Later in the meeting, the Council approved a grant pre-application, which allows Peterson to submit project proposals for funding through the Iowa Great Places Grant Program. In old business, the Council approved a pay request of $63,122.75 for the Park Street project to Harland Concrete. The widening project is now complete and all that’s left is the overlay phase. To that end, the Council approved the final acceptance and certificate of completion for Harland, as well as a contract for $29,940 with InRoads Paving, which is the contractor hired by Dallas County for their portion of the project.

Other action items approved included: a pay request of $42,399.93 to Elder Corporation for the Willis Avenue Bridge project; and setting a public hearing for August 6th to discuss a nearly $400,000 general obligation loan for the new garbage trucks and cans. The Council will next convene Wednesday for a special work session on the waste water treatment facility, which Peterson says will be a multi-million dollar project. The special meeting will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the Towncraft Building.
