A long-time Jefferson-based business is moving to a new location.
Jefferson Veterinary Clinic will be relocating to its new location on Gallup Road, south of Highway 30, in the Greene County Development Corporation East Business Park. Owner Dr. Mark Peters says the current 3,800-square-foot building on Wilson Avenue was built around the 1950s and started as a one-room veterinary clinic. Then in 1980, the business expanded to one exam and one surgery room. Dr. Peters has been with Jefferson Veterinary Clinic for 22-years and co-owned the business with Dr. Scott Seivers from January 1, 1998 to December 31, 2017, when he took over as sole owner at the beginning of this year.
Dr. Peters says one of the main reasons why he wanted to move the business was because of congestion at the current facility.
“Our current facility is worn out. We’d like to get a cattle-hauling facility attached to the clinic. We’d just like to be more efficient in our operations and our ability to get care of people and their pets.”

The new facility will include two exam rooms and one surgery room, and will have a better workflow to create what Dr. Peters refers to as “better efficiencies” to do his job. The new building will be 5,200-square-feet. Overall Dr. Peters is excited about the new start.
“We’ll be excited to be out there. It’s going to give us a new blueprint for a clinic and increase of efficiencies and our operations. And to be able to hopefully bring maybe some new services or help to take care of the existing clients better.”
Dr. Peters is hoping to be able to have the new facility operational by Thanksgiving.
