The countdown is on to when the Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) comes into Jefferson Monday.
Executive Co-Chair Matt Wetrich says there’s still time for everyone to purchase the official Jefferson RAGBRAI t-shirts featuring the theme “Highway to Bells.”
“It’s kind of a community pride and a momento. It also supports the committee and the community endeavor aspect of this. The money that we make off of t-shirts kind of goes back into our general funds raised from all of this. Which then will go right back to different community projects and community entities when all of this is all said and done.”
As a reminder, the streets around the downtown square will be blocked off to traffic all day on Monday and there will be no parking on the southside of Lincoln Way and the east side of Chestnut Street. Free musical entertainment will at the intersection of State and Chestnut streets starting at 4pm and lasting until 11:30pm. There will also be several food vendors throughout town, with the majority of the vendors being located in the downtown square.
Also Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio will be on the square broadcasting live from 1 to 7pm on Monday. We will be doing live interviews, plus playing music and making local announcements.
