acgcOn Wednesday the Adair-Casey and Guthrie Center School Boards met in a special session to discuss the search for the districts’ next superintendent. At this particular moment in the process, the Boards are looking for the right search firm to help them select the ideal candidate. Guthrie Center School Board President Wes Policky gives his thoughts on what he’s hoping the search firm will be able to provide.

“I think, number one, really hold our hands through the process. Each of the Board members has their own personal lives and we do have a responsibility to the constituents of our communities. But I think the reason why we need to pull in those firms is really to hold our hands and make sure we’re doing our due diligence and that we’re checking off every box to make sure at the end we get the best candidate for our school district.”

During the discussion on Wednesday, Board representatives agreed to invite four firms to present their services. One of the four up for consideration is a firm based out of Omaha. He gives some reasons why out-of-state firms should be considered.

“Sometimes maybe an ‘outside looking in’ view is helpful. Just to maybe not have as many preconceived notions about which person goes to which school or what relationship some of these applicants will have with some of the counties or the school district. I think overall it really comes down to who’s going to provide us with the best service in helping us along the journey to get the best replacement for Mr. (Steve) Smith.”
