When people mention the name Josh Davis in Perry, it likely conjures up images of the Perry graduate who died in military combat in 2010, and became the namesake of the popular plaza downtown. For many others, it’s a reminder of the annual motorcycle poker run.

The eighth annual Josh Davis Memorial Poker Run will be held Saturday, starting in Perry and going on an 88-mile trek around central Iowa. The ride will start with registration at the Perry Elks Lodge from 8-10 a.m. Kickstands will be up at 10:30, and stops along the way include bars in Grand Junction, Boone, Slater, and Woodward. The ride will then loop back to Perry, where the Elks Lodge will serve dinner, followed by a live auction, a 50/50 raffle, and the poker hand drawing.

Registration can be done the day of the event, and $15 will get attendees a poker hand and a meal. A party bus will also be available for $10 per person. Proceeds from the event will go towards the Josh Davis Memorial Fund, which awards two scholarships to Perry High School graduates each year, as well as upkeep and improvements to Josh Davis Plaza, and various other veterans’ charities.
