A Michigan couple was involved in a single-vehicle motorcycle wreck on Interstate 80 Friday morning, in which one of them died and the other sustained serious injuries.

The Iowa State Patrol reports, at just before 10 a.m. a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by 42-year-old Matthew Allan Babcock and carrying 43-year-old Jamie Lynn Babcock, both of Olivet, Michigan, was travelling eastbound on I-80 near the DeSoto exit. The rear tire of the motorcycle had a blowout, and the driver lost control. Both passengers were ejected, and were seriously injured.

Matthew was taken by Dallas County Emergency Medical Services to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, but his injuries proved fatal. Jamie was taken to Methodist by Waukee EMS and her current condition is unknown, though she reportedly survived the crash. The Iowa State Patrol reports neither passenger was wearing a helmet.
