The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.
Much of the meeting was devoted to more discussion on the space needs at the courthouse. Christopher Patterson, the 5th Judicial District Court Administrator went over what the Courts system had internally discussed for moving departments around in the building. He proposed that the Clerk of Court and Juvenile Courts share the east side of the second floor, with the west side being occupied by a single, large courtroom. The plans for the first floor would still include the Treasurer’s Tax Department and Recorder’s Office on the west side, and the Department of Motor Vehicles on the east. All parties involved felt the proposal could work, so it will now be up to Jerry Purdy from Design Alliance to see if it’s feasible.
The Board also held further discussion on a potential 28E agreement between the County and the Healthcare Coalition service area 1A. County Attorney Wayne Reisetter presented a rough draft of the agreement, which would name Dallas County as the employer of record for the service coordinator. No action was taken, so the Supervisors could review the agreement. At 9:45 a.m., the Board held a public hearing on the first reading of proposed amendments to the County’s flood plain ordinance. The changes included edits made by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), based on mandates from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The Board approved the ordinance on first reading, and will have the second reading on August 21st at 10 a.m.
Finally, the Board received an update on the West Des Moines, Waukee, and Van Meter regional water study. The meeting concluded with a closed session to discuss pending litigation.
