It’s football season once again, and that means it’s time for the yearly “Sports Drink Scrimmage” for the Perry Varsity Football Team.

Each year during the fall sports kick-off event, the team takes the field for an exhibition, to give fans a taste of the gridiron action they’ll be seeing throughout the fall. Anyone who wants tickets to the game can leave their wallets at home, however, as all they need in order to gain entry is a sports drink. Perry Booster Club President Danene Stewart explains, “You’re not required to bring a sports drink into the scrimmage, anybody can come and watch it. But it’s just encouraged, that’s what it’s been in years past. And those sports drinks are used at the different events, you know the football games, to help the kids.”

The scrimmage will cap off tomorrow’s Fall of 2018 Kick-Off event at the high school, which will begin with the “Blue-White” volleyball scrimmage in the gymnasium at 4:30 p.m. The “Sports Drink Scrimmage” is expected to begin at around 6:15 at the newly renovated Dewey Field. Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio will also be in attendance for the evening’s festivities. We will be broadcasting live, playing music, and providing public address services.
