Drought MapPortions of the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area remain drought-like conditions.

According to the latest US Drought Monitor, all of Dallas and Guthrie counties, and the southern tip of Greene County, are experiencing abnormally dry conditions. From the beginning of August through this past Thursday, the National Weather Service reports that Perry has seen 0.76-inches of rainfall, while Guthrie Center has seen 1.32-inches of rainfall. There was no information available for Jefferson. Perry normally averages about two-inches of rainfall for August. Guthrie Center’s normal monthly rainfall total for August is 2.43-inches of precipitation.
