Friday, August 17th

1:07am: Officers were requested at 502 West Harrison for a boyfriend/girlfriend Verbal Argument occurring. The officer worked with the couple to figure out a place for one party to stay the evening to let things cool down.

2:48am: A officer located an Unsecured Door at 1002 North Cedar Street and secured the building.

10:28am: Lane Pace reported a dog running freely in the 600 Block of West Clark Street. The officer did not locate the animal.

11:25am: An officer assisted with a Civil Property Dispute at 502 West Harrison Street.

1:15pm: A caller advised of a stray dog near the Wilson Ave. RR Crossing. The officer made contact with the animal’s owner, who was out of town, and was given permission to place the animal inside the residence.

1:39pm: Autumn Dolph requested officers at 304 North Vine Street for a Verbal Domestic Argument occurring between her and her estranged husband. The male had left the area before the officer’s arrival.

2:00pm: Carol Fisher brought a bag of garbage to the LEC she had located at the City Tree Waste Dump Site. The officer disposed of the items.

2:23pm: The A & W advised of an Intoxicated Patron at 300 North Elm Street. The officer arrived and made contact with a female in the parking lot. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Kimberly Joy Allen, 60 of Jefferson for, “Public Intoxication – Simple.”

3:10pm: Melanie Perin requested a Welfare Check on her husband at 1216 Westwood Drive. She advised he had fallen and may need medical attention. The officer made contact with the subject, who advised he would wait for his wife to arrive home to drive him to ER and refused medical assistance from the officer.

3:20pm: Jackie Cram advised her husband just left 402 East Monroe in a vehicle and he was intoxicated. The officer did not locate the reported vehicle in Jefferson.

5:47pm: Hanna Rice reported finding damage to her 2016 Toyota Corolla. She was unsure when and where the damage had occurred. The vehicle had a reported $1000.00 in damage to the left rear corner.

7:51pm: Kelsi Reed requested an officer at Washington Park to speak to her juvenile son, who had run away from home. Kelsi requested the officer to take her son to the LEC in a marked patrol vehicle to “Scare Him.” The officer refused the request and offered to speak to her son at the park. Reed refused and advised she would speak to the officer’s supervisor about the issue. It is not the policy of the Jefferson Police Department to scare children into fearing law enforcement officers. We want them to be able and willing to speak to us if they feel they need help.

11:55pm: Devan Pratt called and advised a subject with a flashlight was looking into her locked vehicle at 607 North Wilson Avenue. The officer did not locate anyone in the area and nothing was missing from the vehicle.

11:56pm: Chelse Sanderson advised of Harassing Text Messages from a family member. The officer made contact with the subject and advised him to end the text messages.

Saturday, August 18th

8:45am: Peggy Mahle advised she was contacted by a Social Security Scammer on her cell phone and had given them her SS Number before realizing it was a scam call. The officer advised her to contact the SS Administration and follow their directions for a compromised SS Number.

11:05am: Shawn Olson requested an officer to check on his residence at 203 South Chestnut Street, as he was out of town and was advised someone was at his residence. The officer made contact with Olson’s family member at the residence. All was fine.

11:06am: An officer performed a Funeral Escort.

12:50pm: An officer investigated a DOG Bite in the 800 Block of West South Street. The officer learned the child had reached over a fence on private property to pet the animal, who snipped at the youngster. The animal is current on vaccinations and the animal had not committed an offense against City Animal Ordinances.

3:30pm: Jill Johnson reported being slandered on Face Book. The officer advised her he could do nothing criminally, but she could contact an attorney to pursue Civil Damages if she wished.

5:07pm: Scott Foresman reported a Careless Driver on 220th Street, approaching Jefferson from the east. The officer was able to stop the vehicle and speak to the driver about the complaint.

5:56pm: Austin Redding advised of a Careless Driver eastbound on 220th Street heading into Jefferson. The officer did not locate the vehicle.

9:45pm: An officer assisted EMS with a Medical Call at Park Ave. South.

11:06pm: Scott Bieler spoke with an officer concerning a Civil Property Issue.

11:50pm: An officer assisted a resident in the 400 Block of East Park Street gain entry to the residence after locking themselves out.

Sunday, August 19th

12:40am: A caller advised of two young children left unattended in a vehicle parked at 777 Wild Rose Lane. The officer made contact with the two children, ages 6 and 8, in a vehicle. They advised their parents and a friend were inside the casino gambling and they estimated they had been in the vehicle alone for ½ hour. The officer made contact with the parents and the friend. They were advised the Department of Human Services would be contacted about the event and possible criminal charges may be sought for Child Endangerment. The investigation continues at this time.

9:49am: Nancy Bishop advised of discarded needles at Cedar and Lincoln Way Streets.

11:34am: Tom Scheffers reported his neighbors threw a live snake over his fence into his yard at 405 North Pinet Street, while mowing. The officer spoke to the neighbor, who denied the accusation.

1:43pm: An officer was requested at 203 South Grimmell Road for a Domestic Situation occurring there. The officer learned a Verbal Argument had occurred between a boyfriend/girlfriend. The officer assisted to diffuse the situation until the male party left for work.

2:06pm: Alexis Jordan requested officers at 104 East Monroe Street for a reported Domestic Situation. The officer learned of a Verbal Argument and stood by until the female left the residence.

2:48pm: Officers were requested at 308 North Pinet Street for a Domestic Situation occurring between a female and her adult son. The officer learned of a brief shoving match occurring between the two, but no one was supportive of criminal charges. The officer stood by until the son left the residence.

5:52pm: Curt Hastings reported grass clippings blown into the alley in the 400 Block of North Vine Street.

7:30pm: A caller advised of a careless Semi Driver westbound on 220th Street heading towards Jefferson. The officer did not locate the vehicle.

9:22pm: An officer removed a bat from the residence at 400 West State Street.
