With just one win in 2016 and 2017, the 2018 Greene County football team has the opportunity to not only top those victory totals when Nevada visits Jefferson on Friday night, but the first 2-0 start since 2015 is within reach. The Rams went 4-5 three years ago, led on offense by quarterback Daric Whipple, who topped the 1,000 yard mark both running and passing in just eight games.

Last week, the Rams returned the Cowbell to the trophy case at Greene County High School with a 14-6 season opening victory on the road at Perry’s Dewey Field. The win was just the third in the past 20 games for the Rams, but the third in the last four meetings with the Blue Jays.

Nevada and Greene County are both Heart of Iowa Activities Conference members, but they haven’t met in varsity football since 2007. The Rams have one-sided victories the last three times they met. Friday’s game can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage at 6:30 p.m. and kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
