The Guthrie County Fair begins tomorrow and the full schedule has been released. Admission for this year’s fair is once again $8 per day for ages five and older and $20 for a fair-long pass. Anyone under five and active military personnel are free.
Festivities kick off tomorrow with swine weigh-in beginning at 10am. All other livestock will be checked in throughout the day and the free carnival opens at 5pm. The evening activities include the Dog Show at 6pm in the Open Class show ring, the Clover Kids Show at 7 under the Hoop Building, and the Bill Riley Talent Search at 7 in the auditorium at Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center High School.
The Event Center and vendors will also be open from noon-7pm tomorrow. One of the exhibits open throughout the fair is the Baker School House, sponsored by the Guthrie County Historical Village (GCHV) and Museum. GCHV Board Member Rod Stanley says there will be some new additions to the exhibit this year. “We are going to try to have a couple programs in there about country schools. Maybe a possibility (for) people if they want to take a quiz with questions that 8th grade students had to pass in order to get their diploma. We’ll probably have a few of those tests around to see how smart people really think they are.”
Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio will be at the fair starting tomorrow and will be broadcasting through Sunday from 10am-6pm and Monday from 10am-3pm. We’ll be broadcasting live, playing music, and making local announcements. To see a full schedule, click on the link below:
