Greene County Farm Bureau once again held a successful tailgating event and made a sizeable donation to the Greene County School District.
Greene County Farm Bureau President John McCormick recently gave a $1,066 donation to Greene County Activities Director Mitch Moore. The funds were raised from the Farm Bureau’s Family, Football, Farming and Fun Tailgate event that was held earlier this month during a football scrimmage against North Polk at Linduska Field in Jefferson.
Activities that families enjoyed that evening included: an ag trivia wheel with prizes awarded for questions that were answered correctly, pedal pull tractors, a football toss and educational displays to teach kids and adults about modern agricultural practices. One of the more popular attractions was the Ag Across Iowa trailer. It had a tractor simulator where youth could experience driving a tractor from a realistic cab.
McCormick thanks everyone’s support and their donations from that evening. Plus the help of the Greene County Pork Producers who grilled pork burgers and hotdogs, along with Fareway and Hy-Vee who contributed chips, cookies and bottled water.
