basketball thru hoop

The Perry Parks and Recreation Department has a busy slate of fall programming this year, and not all of it is just for youth.

With that in mind, they will once again be hosting a men’s three-on-three basketball league starting in September. Assistant Parks and Rec Director Becky Halling says it’s a league for any guy with a love of hoops. “Really it’s just kind of a little bit everywhere. I mean, you’re going to have your teams who obviously have been playing for some time. You’ll have teams who are just for the fun, which I think is what makes this league fun. You have your competitive teams, but you also have your teams where you’re in it just for something to do, like, ‘Hey, let’s go play, let’s go do some exercise, let’s go work out for an hour and call it a day.’ So I think it’s fun!”

Halling adds, the league is for men age 18 and older, but participants cannot be current high school students. The season will be played in a round-robin format, with teams playing three games on a half-court at the Perry High School gymnasium, with the first to 15 points winning each game. Players will be in charge of calling fouls. Game sessions will be held from 6:30-10:30 p.m. on Wednesdays starting on September 12th. Cost to participate is $55 per team, and the deadline to register is Friday, September 7th at 8 p.m.
