The Perry City Council will convene for a regular session this week, but it won’t be on the typical day. Because of the Labor Day holiday, the meeting will be held Tuesday evening instead of Monday.
In old business, the Council will consider a pay request of $8,323 to Accujet for the sanitary sewer cleaning, as well as the final acceptance and certificate of completion for the project. Following that, they will consider a pay request of $1,443.73 for release of retainage to InRoads Asphalt for work done on the Park Street widening project. In new business, the Council will consider a resolution approving tax abatement applications for construction completed in 2018 through the abatement program.
After that, they will have discussion and possible action on rate increases for sewer usage and treatment through the 2022 fiscal year. City water rates have not been increased since 2010, and in order to pay for the improvements to the Waste Water Treatment Plant, the fees need to steadily increase over that time frame. Other items on the agenda include approving a fireworks show by J&M Displays for Perry’s Homecoming festivities, and setting open burning dates for this fall.
The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Clarion Room of Perry City Hall. Listen Wednesday for a full recap.
