Adel-DeSoto-Minburn is celebrating Homecoming this week, and organizers are excited to welcome alumni and community members to a full slate of activities.

The theme for this year is “Tigers get Tropical,” so the dress-up days and decorations throughout the week will have a beach-theme. The big event of the week, as it is every year, is Thursday night’s Tiger Fest. It will begin at 5:30 p.m. around the football stadium, and will include games and activities as well as an assortment of vendors. The Homecoming parade will begin at 6 around Tiger Drive, followed by the king and queen coronation at 7, and concluding with the powder puff football game at 7:15. Raccoon Valley Radio and the Big Red Radio will be on hand for Tiger Fest once again to play music and provide public address services. We will also broadcast the coronation ceremony live on 107.9 KKRF.

ADM Student Council Advisor and Homecoming Coordinator Tammie Smith says Tiger Fest got started as a way to get everyone in the same place to celebrate the school. “Several years back, we wanted to have a big event for the community. And so we came up with the idea to have local businesses and different sponsors, so that they can kind of get their name out there. It’s a nice way to get the entire community involved, so we ask all families in the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn area to come to that event. And so we kind of just started with the idea to get people to come together around Homecoming and just get excited about being at the school and doing that big event.”

Friday night will be the Homecoming game, as the varsity football team will host Boone. The week will conclude Saturday evening with the Homecoming dance in the middle school commons from 8-11 p.m. Cost to attend is $5 per person.
