A last-minute addition to the race schedule has the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers cross country teams returning to competition today. After mother nature impacted events at Winterset and Ballard the previous two Mondays, ADM head cross country coach David Zwank replaced one of the canceled meets with entry into the 44th annual Tom Karpan Invitational hosted by West Des Moines Valley High School. This year’s field features runners from Ames, Ankeny Centennial, Council Bluffs-Thomas Jefferson, Dallas Center-Grimes, Des Moines East, Des Moines Lincoln, Indianola, Johnston, Lewis Central, Marshalltown, Norwalk, Waukee, and West Des Moines Valley. ADM was the lone Class 3A participant in the Urbandale Cross Country Invitational September 1, placing fourth out of six teams in the boys’ race and sixth place in the final girls’ team standings. The high school races of the 44th annual Tom Karpan Invitational begins around 5 p.m. from Valley Southwoods Freshman High School.
