Registrations for a special fundraising event coming up later this month are now being accepted to ultimately help teachers within Greene County.

The Amazing Race for Charity is a family-friendly competition that pits up to 50 two-person teams against each other, using clues leading to different locations around Jefferson and completing tasks along the way. Committee member Ian Wilkinson says the tasks include physical, experience and mental challenges and the top three teams that complete the most challenges will win prizes. Greene County Chamber and Tourism Interim Director Michael Reese says all proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the Bringing Opportunities and Optimism to Students and Teachers (BOOST) organization.

“So essentially what that organization does is help supplement our local teachers so they don’t have to reach into their own pockets and be subsidizing classroom activities with their own funds.”

The entrance fee for each team is $50, and there are sponsorships available as well, ranging from $50 to $500. Volunteers are also needed for registration check-ins, at the challenge stations, at the post-party festivities and floaters that can be used between the different stations.
