A Grand Junction man faces drug charges following a traffic stop in May.
Jefferson Police Chief Mark Clouse says 43-year-old Travis Christopher Fincel is charged with a Class D Felony for his third or subsequent offense for possession of methamphetamine and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. Clouse tells Raccoon Valley Radio the incident occurred during a traffic stop on May 12th on 220th Street near Elm Street. The traffic stop was for not having a properly working license plate light. The officer later found out that Fincel had no proof of insurance, was driving with a suspended license and there was no vehicle registration.
After Fincel was arrested, his vehicle was towed to the City’s impound lot. When officers were doing an inventory of the vehicle, Clouse notes they found the suspected narcotics and sent them into the Criminalistics Laboratory in Ankeny to be tested. The test results came back positive for meth.
Clouse says they have applied for an arrest warrant for Fincel. Once they have issued the warrant and arrested Fincel, he will be booked into the Greene County Jail.
