springbrook-state-parkHere’s a reminder for those who are looking for an opportunity to give back in nature. Today Springbrook State Park, along with around 40 other parks across the state, will be hosting Volunteer Day events. The event at Springbrook will begin at 1:30pm at the Campground Gazebo.

Volunteers will be working in newly established pollinator plots, making and planting seed balls, and installing nesting structures for native pollinators. Helpers should bring gloves, water bottles, and small shovels if they have them. The day will conclude with some music provided by the Western Iowa Folk Jam back at the gazebo at 4.

The DNR hopes at least 1,000 volunteers will participate in the statewide events this year.
