GCC-Spring/SummerThe Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

The Board approved the second and third readings of an ordinance amending the Guthrie County Official Zoning Map. The amendment rezones a property in Herndon from agricultural to heavy industrial.

The Board also discussed the hiring of a human resources director. Guthrie County Engineer Josh Sebern and County Public Health Director Jotham Arber offered their input on what they would like to see in the position. No formal action was taken following the discussion.

The Board also approved the sale of two County-held tax sale certificates at Diamondhead Lake for a total of $1,719. Other approved action items included a resolution transferring funds to the Guthrie County Conservation Board, and the Veterans Affairs Commission quarterly report.

The meeting concluded with discussion on all-terrain and utility vehicle ordinances with Casey Mayor Barry Chalfant. Chalfant encouraged the Board to pass an ordinance allowing their usage on County roads due to their popularity and their ability to assist farmers and hunters. Sheriff Marty Arganbright said they see them out on the roads constantly and pointed out that any ordinance would include stipulations such as age limits, licenses, and insurance requirements. No formal action was taken following the discussion.
