The ACGC football team will enter week six of the regular season tonight on the road at Clarinda.
The host Cardinals are coming off a nail biter and statement win at Panorama last Friday. In the victory, sophomore quarterback Michael Shull threw two touchdowns on just three completions. All 104 of his passing yards and both touchdowns went to senior Carter Morris, including a 79-yard strike in the second quarter. Shull also rushed for 127 yards, averaging over 10 yards per carry.
The Chargers are coming off a tough week five loss to defending Class 1A State Champion Van Meter. Head coach Cody Matthewson is looking for his team to bounce back and prove they belong on the field. “I feel bad for some of these seniors and some of those kids who have committed their summers going to camps and their practices to be good. Not to get return from some players who are playing on the field, people who don’t care. That should hurt.”
This will be the first meeting between the two schools, which have a combined record of 3-7. It also features the two lowest scoring teams in the district, averaging just under 31 points combined per game. You can hear the game live tonight on KKRF2 and RaccoonValleyRadio.com. Pre-game coverage begins at 6pm with kickoff set for 7 from Clarinda.
