PLH Award 1

Thursday afternoon, Perry Lutheran Homes hosted a special event where they were presented with the LeadingEdge Care and Services Award by LivingAge Iowa.

Reverend Max Phillips, the CEO of Perry Lutheran Homes, got the program going by explaining the reasons behind why they received the prestigious award. The PLH Meaningful Missions project was recognized for the services provided that both benefit residents and serve as a model of innovation. LeadingAge Iowa President Shannon Strickler then got up and congratulated the PLH staff and residents on the award, saying it was very deserving. She then presented the award, and also mentioned that PLH Administrator Melissa Gannon had recently graduated from one of their programs so that she can better serve the residents.

Marketing Director Mollie Clark said the event was a great moment for Perry Lutheran Homes, and added that everyone there was excited about receiving the award. “So the LeadingEdge Care and Services Award just really means that we’re on the right path. And that path is being different, being unique, and being innovative in the way we care and provide purpose and value for those that live with us. And just the difference that you can make from rolling a sheet into a bandage, or rolling a piece of clay into cross. It really makes a huge difference in the life of somebody else.”

Following the presentation, attendees were given refreshments, including a fried bananas dish that’s a favorite in Haiti, as PLH has been conducting a lot of recent outreach in that country.
