The Stuart City Council met in a special session Monday.

The Council approved a bid for the 2018 street improvement and asphalt project. They accepted the bid from Grimes Asphalt & Paving for $192,181.25. The bid was lower than the estimate of $205,000.The project is slated to begin later this fall.

Other action items approved included a pay estimate for $294,265.40 for phase two of the Wambold Housing Addition and $15,000 of Hotel/Motel Tax funding to the American Legion building and recreation center. The Council also discussed having monthly reports issued from the Stuart Police Department. No formal action was taken following the discussion.
