Some of our counties continued to see drops in unemployment last month.

According to Iowa Workforce Development, Greene County had the largest dip in unemployment from July to August from 3-percent to 2-percent. Guthrie County saw a 0.3-percent decrease in those without a job from July to August to 2-percent. Dallas County remained the same at 1.7-percent unemployment for August.

All three of our counties are now under the state’s unemployment rate, which also continues to shrink. Iowa Workforce Development reports that Iowa’s unemployment rate for August was 2.5-percent, which was a 0.1-percent decrease from July’s 2.6-percent. The US unemployment rate for August was 3.9-percent.
